International Community

Living in diverse and international cities has given me the opportunity to work with first generation Americans, “third culture kids”, diplomats, people who relocated to change the world and people who relocated simply to change their world.

Leaving behind what is familiar to you is a complex experience. Whether you relocated to flee an unsafe environment, followed your parents to a new work post, looked for better opportunities or obtained a job at an international organization, immigrating involves a nuanced adjustment process. Navigating contrasting feelings (home sickness, excitement), getting acquainted to a new system and managing cultural differences can bring up a series of emotions that may be difficult to process alone.

I have nearly 20 years of experience working with people to navigate living abroad, whether it’s a time-limited assignment or a permanent relocation. Through my clinical experience as well as my own immigration process, I have developed a unique understanding of the intricacies of getting adjusted to a new environment. I gently work to dismantle stigma about seeking therapy and create a safe environment to get to the core of your concerns and help you feel better about yourself, build strong relationships and live a joyful life.
