What to expect from our first sessions
Once we schedule our first session I will email a link to your secure client portal. The portal will include all required forms and documents you will need to review and electronically sign before our first session. This will allow us to spend most of our session on the reasons that bring you to my office rather than on paperwork.
I would encourage you to think of our first session as a consultation with no strings attached. I will do my best to understand you and the unique concerns that bring you in. It is important for you to feel comfortable with your future therapist and this initial session will give you a sense of what it's like to work with me.
It is also important for your future therapist to have the skills and experience necessary to treat your specific concerns. I'm happy to answer any questions that you may have about my training and experience. If it seems like we are a good match at the end of the session then we will schedule a regular time to meet. If not, then I will be happy to make a referral to other services or qualified professionals who may be better suited to help you.
Our first few sessions will be focused on learning about you. We’ll explore the specific circumstances that brought you to therapy as well as your history to get a fuller picture of all factors involved and how they may be working together. This process will allow us to identify your strengths, areas for growth and to develop a plan to help you feel better.
